Recruited by a 3rd party staffing firm. Proceeded to interview 1 on 1 with the Manager that ran the midwestern states. Meeting went well, proceeded to do a phone interview w/their HR person via phone. Proceeded to the next level...getting flown up to Stevens Point, WI for more interviews.
All went well with everybody except the final decision maker. This guy was dull, dry, no personality, and I could not believe he was in charge of hiring salespeople. Coming from selling payroll, copiers, insurance, mortgages all my adult life, I was told that I did not have the experience to sell something other than a "comodity" and his concern was that I would not be able to handle a longer sales process.
My thoughts are if somebody can sell mortgages when the market is falling apart, health insurance to people laid off losing their jobs, and copiers...copiers are like selling used cars. Please, I think I could have done great. After telling a friend of mine about the long drawn out, inconvenient interview process I was informed that the person I would be replacing was an old roommate of mine several years back. This was even more entertaining for this guy was a fat slob with little work ethic.
Funny but not too much longer I saw another posting for this position. Gotta love corporate America!
