      Group Engineering Manager Interview

      27 Jan 2025

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Siemens Energy (Solna, Stockholm) in Sept 2024

      Interview

My interview process at Siemens Energy was extensive, spanning several months, but ultimately left me frustrated due to poor communication and a lack of transparency. Here’s a detailed account: 1. Application Submission I submitted my application on August 20th, 2024. The initial stages seemed promising, with HR contacting me to begin the process. 2. First Interview My first interview was with the hiring manager and lasted about 80 minutes. We discussed my technical background, leadership experience, and their focus areas, such as automation, digitalization, and sustainability. The conversation was engaging and gave me hope about progressing further. 3. Logic and Personality Tests Following the interview, I was asked to complete a logic test and a personality test. These were significant steps in the process and required considerable effort. After completing them, I requested feedback on my performance, but I never received any response or insight, which was disappointing. 4. Second Interview After the tests, I was invited for a second interview with another manager. This interview focused on more technical aspects of the role, team dynamics, and project responsibilities. It felt productive, and I was optimistic about my chances. 5. Reference Check On December 15th, 2024, Siemens Energy contacted me to provide three references, which were checked using Refapp. All the feedback from my references was positive. I was hopeful this was a step closer to securing the role. 6. Poor Communication and Follow-Ups Despite completing all stages of the process, including interviews, tests, and reference checks, the communication from Siemens Energy became frustratingly inconsistent. I sent two or three follow-up emails to the hiring manager and even made a phone call, but I never received a response. 7. Job Withdrawal Notification On January 24th, 2025, I received an impersonal notification that the job had been withdrawn. This was the first update I had received in weeks, and it came without any explanation. The lack of communication and respect for my time and effort was extremely disappointing. Overall Experience While the initial stages of the process seemed professional, the poor communication in the later stages left a very negative impression. After months of effort—completing interviews, tests, and reference checks—I felt disrespected and undervalued as a candidate. Siemens Energy’s lack of transparency and failure to respond to emails or calls made the experience frustrating and disheartening.
