      Computer Scientist Interview

      15 Jan 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at SimSpace

      Interview

The company was wholly unprepared. The interviews and tests were easy, but every time I went through a round, upper management supposedly did not trust their recruitment process and asked me to come back for more assessments and interviews. While everyone I met was nice and the assessments were easy, their process was very disrespectful of my (and other applicants) time. I went through multiple phone screens, one of which was incorrectly assigned; multiple site visits that took 3-4 hours and where I was not reimbursed for travel; and multiple assessments. With a nearly 3 month process, no other companies I have recruited at has been as unprofessional and time-consuming. By the end, I felt like I was being schemed rather than recruited for an exciting job. In future recruitment cycles, the company needs to be more prepared and professional. There needs to be better communication between recruiters, teams, and upper management so as to not waste their time or their applicants time.

Thank you for providing this feedback. We take it seriously and have made changes to the interview process to obtain upper management pre-approval for new teams and reduce the number of visits and overall time required of the candidate. Our interview process will always take at least a few weeks, because we're assessing not only technical ability, but also how well we work together solving problems, which is the best indicator we have found for long-term successful hires.
