I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SimpleHealth in Mar 2022
Interview
1) Standard HR Screening by recruiter
2) Interview with Hiring Manager, which was just a friendly conversation asking about my style collaboration, thought processes, and general feel as a developer. The manager at the end said something to the effect of "This went well. I like you and really want to move forward."
3) Final virtual onsite, which consistent of a 1-hr technical interview, a 30-min system design interview, and a 30-min culture fit interview.
The technical interview was actually collaborative, no silent judging here. It was an API that had empty methods and others that needed to be improved. It was pretty straight forward and probably the most fun I had in a technical interview. The interview said that he hopes I'll join since he really enjoyed working together.
The system design interview was a bit tougher, but I will admit that those have never been a strong suit of mine. While some of the followup questions had me on my toes, the interviewer was very nice and tried to nudge me in the right direction. At one point, I had to admit that I wasn't sure of the answer and she said that it was okay and then explained what I was missing. At the end, she said that I did well and she was definitely going to give a good report to the rest of the team.
The culture fit interview was a super causal conversation. We talked about books, hobbies, and all sorts of different topics. In the end, the interviewer said that he also hoped to see me around (in a sense—the job is remote).
The very next day (which certainly surprised me), I got a very nice offer and after a day or two to think (and calm down a bit 😅), I accepted.
