I spoke to a recruiter about this role. After a quick conversation with the recruiter, I received an assessment test which I was excited to take because I thought it had something to do with the role I was applying for. Unfortunately it ended up being the exact opposite. The recruiter never stressed the importance of the assessment test and didn't make me aware that whether I move on to the next step or not in the process was contingent upon the results of the test (which had a few wrong questions). This assessment test asked me outdated questions about shapes and sizes for some reason. There was a lot of comparing of sentences and looking for misspellings and differences. I was very confused by this as I didn't understand what it had to do with the role I was applying for which was an IT role. I understand that certain roles such as in finance may require this, but in IT you are always encouraged to do research and look for the best solution, not the fastest.
Needless to say I was notified that they will not go through with my interview due to the results of the tests. Additionally I found out that this company doesn't even have a legit website. How does someone do research on your company if your website just has a link to some random email address. It seemed shady.
I always believe in doing things right the first time around which requires a little more thinking and research. This assessment test encourages the opposite. I was specifically told to just click on anything if I am running out of time. I'm sorry but I don't conduct myself this way. I would understand if the role required me to think like this, but it was a simple IT Support role I was applying for. Every other interview I had I was always asked to explain my answer and walk through the process of answering questions. Skybox Capital does not seem to want to work this way. I believe they are missing out on good talent due to this antiquated requirement. If you want to get to know someone you are thinking about hiring... TALK TO THEM. I'm glad it never went through, I don't think I want to work for a company that handles matters this way. Please be aware of their practices and if it's your thing I wish you the best of luck.
