The first red flag was that the person said they did not have a HR department. I wasted time with this company where they basically low balled me a lot. I wouldn't waste time with this company if you want to be paid fairly and expect clear communication of the process. They asked me how much I wanted as they weren't able to specify a figure or range then one of the guys seemed really offended when I stated my expectations. Be transparent about salary and expectation from the beginning and learn to pay the industry standard.

Initial interview with someone from HR, subsequent interview with the hiring manager, then a case study with the hiring manager and two other colleagues. Straightforward process, no BS. Everyone was lovely throughout the whole process.
