      Account Manager Interview

      18 Feb 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Social Kinnect

      Interview

The interview in itself was okay. Was told I'd be given an assignment. But no revert from them after that. Moreover the same HR contacts me again on LinkedIn about the same role. On mentioning the fact that I have already been interviewed - she was clueless on the same & had no update. Why is it so difficult for HR to update existing applicants?

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Social Kinnect (Mumbai) in Jun 2017

      Interview

I applied via LinkedIn. The process took more than 10 days. With over 8 years of experience in the online space, I applied and got shortlisted for an interview. As usual, the first round was nonsensical with the HR, who knew nothing more than - tell me about yourself? She decided to put me through the next round. This one was with a head of the business and learning team, and he didn't disappoint. Infact, the interview process was more like a knowledge exchange session. The 1 hour discussion on various things that I did in my career was simply worth it. I was asked about my salary and the person frowned. I have a 8 years of experience, and I've worked with the best brands in the world in an AM capacity. So why feel bad, on learning that I'm doing well in my career. Your agency is supposedly looking for to rockstars, and they aren't cheap. I asked will that be a problem, because i was supposed to work on a lengthy assignment and I wanted to ensure that the time was worth, i never imagined that i was heading for a disastrous outcome. I finished the assignment and transitioned to the last round with the CEO. I went inside his SWANKY cabin. I was happy that I made it, it was just a matter of time. My focus was not on getting the job, but on building a team on my own and collaborating with the head i spoke with and create some kickass digital campaigns. I was under the assumption, that i was called down because my 29 slide PPT had great ideas and insights. The CEO started with asking me about all my ex-bosses, where they are and what the company was all about. He then asked me how much i made at all the companies. He then asked me the reason for leaving the current job. I had a simple and honest response to all his questions. He then asked me about my expected salary, I quoted what i want. He laughed and said that I can't even give half of that to you. BOOM! Down went the entire impression of this company headed by the dumbest and the most unprofessional individual that I ever came across. He said that working for a an international company doesn't mean that you'll get that salary here. And why should we pay you, when you say that you want to learn from us. I lauded the company for their new EDGE division and showed interest in growing through collaborating with different teams. He didn't take into consideration my existing skill sets and judged me conclusively on my curious mind. I did a strong research, the company had some of the best clients and was growing. But the people score here was down to 2-1. The HR and the CEO were the face of the company, both disappointed in handling a senior person's valuable time. Ofcourse, subtle sarcasm was also passed by him, since I had worked for some really cool clients compared to his list and he boasted about how less of a quality i had as compared to his existing team. I took with a grain of salt and met with a standard question. We will get back to you. Obviously, i had wasted my time and given some key ideas in the PPT. Which sometimes is their end objective. But i had left some lose ends in the PPT, ensuring i don't put all the eggs in the basket. Guys, who want to join as Strategy Head, Social Media Head, Account Manager with 5+ experience. Don't waste your time. I know you will make an informed decision after reading this review. Saving your time cos gosh my got wasted. Leaving with the last response from HR, when I followed up; You have less experience for the role ! Mike Drop!
