Interview
Probably the worst interview I've been in my entire life. Impressions: the hiring manager maintained a polite tone but was rather short and brusque, rushing through the questions. They would ask the most textbook questions with some that are two parts and cut you off in the middle of your answer, stating you've already answered it when you, in fact, made only about a third of your point; I've never had this happen at any company. The rushing made me wonder immediately if there were many questions or other logistical matters saved for the end, but the questions were done in less than 20 minutes out of the 30 minutes allotted for the interviewer as though they didn't want to be there anymore. After that was just room for my own questions, which the interviewer answered insufficiently and hurriedly. When asked if my questions were answered, I said yes just to end it all; I was put off from beginning to end and felt the interviewer was interested in ending the interview as soon as possible. Puzzling, since they went through the trouble of recording the entire thing using their AI software as well. If you're interested in being ghosted (despite being promised an update within a week) after an interview with a company that does not value what you actually have to say and want you to rush through your answers, proceed. There was a technical issue with my phone that resulted in me answering the phone a bit late, so I understand if that gave them a bad impression of me, but that does not mean it's all right to treat a candidate like that.
Other notes: if you pass the 'homework' stage submitted alongside your written application, the hiring manager will conduct a phone screen with you to go over basic questions. If you make it past that stage, you will have a panel interview.
As of 2025 Q2, the competition for this role seems to be 1:700.

Question 1
How have your past job experiences prepared you for this position?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Solar United Neighbors in Apr 2025
Interview
I had an initial phone screening with a recruiter for the role where we mainly discussed what the company does/background info, the responsibilities of the fellow, and my reason for applying. While the phone screening seemingly went well, I didn't hear back about next steps or anything about my status.

Question 1
What experiences (academic or otherwise) and skills do you believe match what's needed for this position?
Pretty straightforward interview process. Asked about experience and salary expectations as well as why I wanted to work for a nonprofit. Gave me time after for any questions I had.
