I want to share my negative experience with the Sophos interview process.
• I was initially told the process would involve a call with HR (which was fine) and then a discussion with the hiring manager (also a good experience). At that point I was informed my next interview would be a one-to-one session, mostly focused on my previous experience.
• However, when I joined, I was surprised to see three interviewers from different backgrounds. Each asked unrelated questions, and the session suddenly shifted to a live coding test without any prior notice. This created confusion and made the interview feel disorganised.
• After the session I was told I’d hear back within a couple of days. Instead, I had to send 7–8 follow-up emails before I finally received a short rejection. There was no meaningful feedback provided, other than vague statements like “other candidates were better.”
Overall, this was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience. The process lacked transparency, the communication was extremely poor, and I was left feeling that my time and effort were not respected.
