1 take home assignment that was technical and 1 phone call that was a mix of behavioral and technical. Call was first with a software manager, and then the assignment was reviewed by a team of engineers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
In the phone call, was asked in-depth questions about my projects at school and things listed on my resume. Take-home was a fun and interesting aerospace related project, but didn't require too much outside/physics knowledge since it was for a SW internship.
I applied online. I interviewed at SpaceX (Hawthorne, CA) in Nov 2025
Interview
I got reached out to by a recruiter to schedule a phone interview with a lead engineer on the team. He asked me questions about certain projects I listed on my resume, and then proceeded to ask me questions on different data structures & algorithms, and also where using them would be useful. After doing well there I got an email to complete a technical assessment. They allot 12 hours to complete it, but it shouldn't take you that long. After submitting that, I didn't get a response for about 4-weeks. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job but got good feedback.

Question 1
One of the questions:
What is a hash table, what does it offer, how does hashing work, what are hash collisions and how can they be addressed?
Recruited for the starship software team. I got cut in the second round. They filled the position and told me the team I am recruiting for no longer needs me.
Had a phone screening then technical interview. Then did not make it to next round. Phone screening asked both behavioral and technical questions more about concepts and working with a coding language (ie: python). Technical was typical straightforward coding question.
