I never had such a disappointing experience for a phone interview. I first spoke with someone in HR who was extremely pleasant and enjoyable to talk to. A few days later she asked for my availability to I can speak to the manager of who this role would report to. I don't know if this was the first time this person was interviewing someone, but this was by far the most inappropriate and condescending experience. She inferred that my resume was inappropriate and unprofessional since my font was rather 'bold' and 'unconventional,' and that would most likely push away other employers. She said that Charter/Spectrum is a very corporate environment and I can't "just wear jeans everyday like I do now." I don't know where this absurd statement came from because I wear jeans maybe 2x a month at my current job. She also said "we don't have all the fun stuff like summer Fridays or early dismissal" like some other companies. Again, extremely condescending. When I challenged her statement about my resume, she said "Well, okay then... I guess some food for thought.." and I could nearly hear her eyes roll. I've received offers and interview requests from huge companies like Loreal, CBS, Michael Kors, Jagermeister, Viacom, Rocnation, MARS, and more. I also have 3 years of experience working at Comcast HQ in Philly. I've never been so offended from a simply phone conversation. This was by far the most condescending interaction I've ever had with a hiring manager/employer in my 8+ years of interviewing. I will never recommend this company to a friend and rather just cut the cord on my Wifi Bill with them as well.
