      Application

      Interview

Disorganized, Unprofessional, and Rude Hiring Process – Proceed with Caution I applied for the Enrollment Management Communication Specialist role at Spelman College and was deeply disappointed by the unprofessionalism and disorganization throughout the hiring process. Key Issues: Poor Communication & Scheduling: After waiting nearly five months for a response, they finally scheduled a virtual interview—but in an extremely disrespectful manner. Instead of collaborating on a time, they demanded when I would be available, showing zero flexibility or courtesy. The scheduler was unresponsive to emails, forcing me to call multiple times—only to be hung up on due to alleged technical issues (though my connection was fine). Unprofessional Behavior: The staff I interacted with were rude, dismissive, and visibly stressed—not the welcoming environment you’d expect from such a prestigious institution. They asked if I’d accept a significant pay cut upfront (which I was open to, given Spelman’s mission), but their attitude made it clear they didn’t value candidates. Lack of Respect for Candidates: The entire process felt chaotic, as if they were scrambling to fill a role they’d been unable to staff for months—a major red flag. Their inability to coordinate basic logistics (or treat applicants with professionalism) reflects poorly on their workplace culture. Final Decision: I withdrew my application after the scheduling ordeal. It’s a shame—Spelman is a jewel of Atlanta, but the hiring team’s behavior undermines its reputation. Until they address these issues, I’d caution others to seriously reconsider engaging with their hiring process.
