Seen a Job posting on Linkedin that was about 10 days old.
Organized a 30 minute call for what was 10pm (my time / 4pm NYC time) with someone from their in-house People Team. When organizing he was aware of the time difference and that this would be a late call for me.
The Recruiter's first comment on the call was that they were already close to signing another candidate. They had made an offer and were awaiting a response. He asked if I still wanted to go ahead as it was possible they'd reject, and that there were going to be more positions in future. I agreed to continue on this basis.
The entire 'interview' thereafter was about 7 minutes. He asked some very basic questions (tell me about yourself, have you used 'x') , and then focused on getting a list of technologies out of me.
He wasn't interested in how long I was working with or what I did with those technologies. He also wasn't interested in my prior experience, or what I knew about the company. Given it's a senior position, I had spent the best part of 4 hours researching them, the product, etc...
He seemed very uninterested overall and distracted - like he didn't want to be on the call.
No details of next steps. Very little details of comp/benefits. Position was based in Madrid (which he knew) but didn't know anything beyond the job description?
Got an email a few days later saying the position had already been filled.
Overall disappointing experience!
I'm pretty shocked that they would arrange an interview at 10pm with someone knowing full well that the position was already filled! At this level I'd expect MUCH more professionalism.
