I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sprout Social (Chicago, IL) in Dec 2018
Interview
Initial HR phone screen - no surprises here
Technical phone screen -standard algorithms question. great communication and back and forth with the interviewer. plenty of time to ask questions at the end and good discussion on that front.
Take home project - basic tasks are pretty straightforward; a handful of subtle details that could be easy to miss if you rush. overall seemed like a good way to show off practical coding knowledge/skills for the role.
On-site interview: 3 one-hour rounds with two interviewers each. pretty good mix of design questions, design + quick pseudocode, and then typical "leetcode" type algorithm questions. there seemed to be big emphasis on the conversation and discussion - this was really pleasant and helped take away the scary "standing in front of a whiteboard in front of two silent stone faced people" situations a lot of other interviews have.
Once again plenty of time to discuss more than just the questions (testing, day to day at the company, really just free reign to ask whatever)
Overall really solid process - virtually everything along the way seemed thorough but fair, and i never got the sense anyone was trying to trick you or ask something unexpected.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sprout Social
Interview
Great interview process, a bit long with 5 interviews and 2 coding interviews, but questions weren't too bad, and everyone seemed nice and professional. The two coding interviews were with 2/3 other devs and were whiteboarding problems and pseudocoding. I was also given a courtesy email when I wasn't chosen.

Question 1
You are creating an app for bus routes, whiteboard and pseudocode on how you would design this app
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Sprout Social in Oct 2023
Interview
Initial recruiter screen went well from my perspective, but apparently not from the company's as I was not moved on to the technical round. Normally not a big deal but the recruiter originally reached out to me so not sure what could have happened.

Interview
Went through a technical round with a senior engineer. The questions they asked me were fair, though it probably wasn’t my best performance. That being said, the main thing that irked me was the overall demeanor of the interviewer. They complained about having too many meetings, they mentioned that most of their work consists of putting out fires instead of working on new development, and they just seemed like they really didn’t want to be there. It makes me wonder what’s going on at Sprout if their interviewers can’t even pretend to not hate either their job and/or interviewing a candidate for 1 hour. Also, during the technical interview, I feel like I barely had time to think of my answer before they gave up on me and just gave me the answer and moved on. So I felt rushed.
