I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Stop & Shop (Smithtown, NY) in Aug 2011
Interview
It was a very casual interview. A friend had recommended me to the position and as I had a good amount of experience already, I was not asked many questions.
Brought a resume in to the interview, was hired on the spot based on prior experience in grocery/cashiering. Was not expecting to be hired on the spot. They explained the union situation and that was about it.
Very quick interview. Interviewer was friendly. Asked about availability and stressed the importance of stop and shop being a union. You will be hired as long as you are friendly polite and can demonstrate a positive attitude towards customers. Experience a plus.
I met with the store manager at the store. The interview was very easy and informative. We went over their benefits and what is like to work there. I had been a cashier before so I knew what would have been expected.
