I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stop & Shop (Hingham, MA) in Aug 2011
Interview
The interview was very simple. I basically already had the job when I got in there. I met with the front end manager and filled out the hiring paperwork. She never even formally offered me the job, it was assumed by the fact that I was filling out the W4, etc...
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Relatively simple. Are you a good worker? Are you reliable?
Brought a resume in to the interview, was hired on the spot based on prior experience in grocery/cashiering. Was not expecting to be hired on the spot. They explained the union situation and that was about it.
Very quick interview. Interviewer was friendly. Asked about availability and stressed the importance of stop and shop being a union. You will be hired as long as you are friendly polite and can demonstrate a positive attitude towards customers. Experience a plus.
I met with the store manager at the store. The interview was very easy and informative. We went over their benefits and what is like to work there. I had been a cashier before so I knew what would have been expected.
