My profile got shortlisted through a job portal site for the position of Data Scientist (NLP) and interview got scheduled with a Project Manager. Interview went well and the interviewer asked all the basic questions from Data Science and NLP. Then I got selected for 2nd round that was with the VP. Interviewer asked me a question about the working that is happening behind the Spacy library. I didn't remember that because I always use SpaCy to avoid writing the whole algorithm. He rejected me based on this 1 question and didn't bother about my past work and other solutions to his question. Suggestion: 1. To HR, to always respond to email and pick calls when you without discussion changes interview time & date. 2. To Hr/VP, make JD as per your need. Don't mention something in that you are not looking for. 3. If one particular algo or skill is important to you that ask them in Screening call or may be in 1st round. Don't wait till last round. It will help yours and candidate's time.
