My interview was with the CEO, which I found to be a very odd practice for an introductory 30-minute interview.
Overall, it seemed extremely disjointed. The CEO was not prepared with my resume, background, or having read the cover letter they asked for. In fact, as we were talking it seemed as if she was pulling up my resume.
After every answer to a (very standard) question, the CEO would respond with, "thank you for that, it was helpful;" it was incredibly offputting. By the 3rd or 4th response, I had checked out. The canned responses, the lack of interest shown, and the general ambivalent attitude turned me 200% off.
In all honesty, I think we both knew that there was not going to be a fit here. The organization itself seems promising and like it could grow into something fantastic but I would highly recommend that initial interviewers come prepared. My time is just as valuable as yours, please don't waste it.
