This was one of the worst interview experiences I've ever had. The interviewers were mean and openly dismissed my ideas, insisting that they wouldn't work. At the end of the interview, they revealed they were acting like that since they wanted to push me for more ideas and see how I'd react, which felt ridiculous. The assignment brief indicated it was meant to assess my thought process and creativity and not about the correct answer, which is why I presented some interesting alternative perspectives. However, it seemed like they were only looking for the correct answer since they told me to disregard the alternative ideas in my presentation and focus solely on the ideas that they already implemented. There are much better ways to challenge candidates without being mean and insulting their ideas. Stop justifying interviews that are unnecessarily tense.
