      Director Interview

      20 Oct 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Salt Lake City, UT
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Sword Health (Salt Lake City, UT) in Sept 2022

      Interview

Whole process took two months. Everyone on the team I'd work with seemed great. Genuinely appeared to be smart and humble people and I enjoyed talking with everyone. I was asked fair direct questions but felt at ease talking to everyone. Most of the process was honestly fine. There was a lot of vetting but it made sense based on the role I was going for. Ended up talking to the recruiter, five other people and had to do a panel presentation. All in all spoke with about eight different team members. Offer came three weeks after final interview because they needed CEO approval to increase the offer to match my current compensation. I understood that but also kept being told "we'll have final approval tomorrow" for about two weeks, which raised an eyebrow on honesty to me. When I raised concerns on the moving timelines I was told by the recruiter that I needed to be more resilient. When the offer came over the phone, I was pushed into giving "what are you leaning" on the spot when I was verbally non-committal. Instead of sending the written offer letter and benefits information over as promised, I received an email from the recruiter saying "based on our call it doesn't sound like you like us anymore" so I declined. Seemed like a great company with a great product but the last leg of the process raised more red flags than I could ignore.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

It's been so long since the questions came through that I forget specifics. Most of the questions were on workstyle, cross-functional collaboration and management. Had to do a strategy challenge presentation towards the end with a panel as well. The goal of it was more to see how I approached problem solving and not to solicit free work like some companies do. I thought the whole process was pretty fair.
