Interview
Honestly one of the most frustrating interview processes I’ve been through. A recruiter reached out to me for an IT Sales Executive role and seemed interested, but every time I asked for basic details (hours, compensation, etc.) she just kept saying she’d “get back to me” and never did.
I went onsite and met the team (who were professional enough), but everything after that was a mess. I was told multiple times they wanted to make me an offer, and that I’d have it “by the end of the day.” That line dragged on for almost two weeks, with me having to constantly follow up and still getting no concrete answers.
Finally, after all that wasted time, I was told the company had decided on a hiring freeze and couldn’t move forward.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Syneren Technologies Corporation

The interview process was straightforward and efficient. I had an initial phone screen with HR to review my resume and technical background, followed by a one-hour virtual interview with a panel of two engineers.

What was one of the most challenging bugs you’ve had to fix, and how did you resolve it?

step one: Quick screen with recruiter, which was more like a scheduling call for the actual interview. This recruiter did not exuberate the level of professionalism necessary for professional services and--in particular-- govcon with its already volatile workforce due to the nature of project-based work. As the first entry point in a candidate journey, they could do better but she's probably not paid much and so disinterested to understand the impact of her behavior and work flow have on the the impression the company makes on others.
step two: virtual meeting with the owner and someone from her leadership team. They asked some great questions that resulted in the discussion of my technical expertise as a proposal manager, even though the position was titled 'capture manager.' Still, we had a fantastic conversation and covered down on a lot of tactics and operational procedures in proposal management (as well as some blue/black hat talk too). Convo went well. Nice people.
Shortly after that initial meeting the recruiter called me back with a verbal offer. The recruiter dragged her feet on the written offer, so I think they used it as an initial negotiation tactic while they kept playing the field. It was highly unethical and another indication of their thoughtless recruitment strategies/personas.
