I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TapResearch in Jun 2021
Interview
Recruiter reached out via LinkedIn. Had a standard recruiter screen over the phone, then a 1-hr video call with the Director of Product.
I was expecting a normal behavioral interview, but he asked me one question about my background and then we jumped into a "design exercise" in which he showed me a beta feature they were working on and asked me to give him feedback on it from a design/usability perspective.
The whole thing felt very weird and disorganized, and after about 10 minutes I realized they were essentially using this "interview" to get free design advice. He couldn't really answer any of my questions around the intent of different features or design considerations that had gone into the UI, so it was a very one-sided conversation. He didn't leave any time at the end for me to ask questions about the company.
I never heard back from them after that — not even a rejection email, they just completely ghosted me.

Interview
Initial discussion with recruiter followed up by a tech screen from a lead developer.
I was given a take home assignment, rejected, and given no feedback on submission (reason for negative experience).

Interview
The beginning of the process went really quick; had an intro call with the recruiter and then had the final round with the CTO 3 business days later. They gave the impression I would hear from them soon, but then the weeks came and went and nothing. I even followed up with the recruiter about a week after my last interview, but didn't hear anything. I'm not too surprised since they mentioned multiple times that they are majorly overwhelmed when it comes to recruiting. But maybe a good place to start would be to at least have the consideration to send rejection letters to candidates.
Sorry to hear about your experience. As a fast growing startup we are always looking to improve our processes - so we will strive to improve! Best of luck in your search - TapResearch HR.
