Three weeks after I had applied for the position on the Tesla jobs portal, I received an email from the HR Team Lead to setup a telephonic interview to discuss my CV, career goals and personality. During the interview I was informed that I would be recommended to the hiring manager and that a HR coordinator would contact me to regarding the next steps. As I was not in the Amsterdam area, the HR Team Lead stated that 3 rounds of interviews would be conducted via teleconference.
I was contacted by the HR coordinator after 12 days to setup a time for a teleconference with the hiring manager for two days later. Unfortunately, the hiring manager did not connect the meeting room that was setup, I contacted the HR Coordinator and Team Lead, but they were unavailable. I managed to contact the office of the hiring manager, who was unavailable at the time, but a new teleconference was scheduled for the following day.
The interview process continued with a total of six interviews, which included a local interview with the VP of the department, of the course of 4 months.
Communication during the process was quite inconsistent, with little feedback after each interview.
After the last interview, I was assured that I would be notified by the HR Coordinator about the outcome. Unfortunately, after contacting the HR Team Lead and Coordinator I did not get any feedback and only received feedback a month later stating that they had gone with an internal candidate due, mainly due to time constraints of hiring someone from outside.
The interview questions were not extremely complex for someone with sufficient experience, but the lack of communication and delays between interviews were challenging
