Three stages of interviews (phone with hiring manager, panel interview via video, and "day long" in person interview). During panel interview it was noted there were many changes and challenges on the horizon (true anywhere in Tech these days) and hints to recent retitling (downgrades) and organizational shifts. One person indicated they had no idea what the person in this role was expected to do and didn't understand why they were being asked to interview me. Several interviewers asked the same questions in both the video and the in person meetings. Knowing that no organization or hiring process is perfect, I set these things aside and focused on the areas I saw as potential opportunities where I could help and learn in the role. I waited one week to send follow up message to the email address of the corporate recruiter (never spoke to them on the phone or in person) after third interview. A week after that (2 weeks from in person interview) the recruiter replied that another candidate was selected. (At this point, I had moved on in my search.) I had applied for another position with this org and it was still in "under review", and I've since withdrawn that application given this experience. There are lots of other great companies out there who have streamlined processes and efficient feedback loops. Too many hours and effort to not be given the courtesy of a timely notice. Remember: Candidates are interviewing the company too! Other than the items noted, the interviewers were pleasant and the conversations positive. No questions too difficult if you have the years of experience in the industry required for the minimum.
