I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Escape Pod (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2024
Interview
Started with a recruiter on LinkedIn, then went straight to the ECD. After that, they wanted my partner and I to come in for 3+ hours during a workday to meet the team. Despite the commitment, we obliged. Felt like they were somewhat serious about us.
Anyway, we came in, got a tour, met folks, they brought in lunch, talked to some of the department leads, said goodbye and left. Took a couple weeks for the recruiter to tell my partner and I they passed on us with no real feedback for why other than a typical "not enough experience" response, which feels like something they could have figured out well before having us spend almost half a day with them.
I actually don't think we would have accepted in the end, we had a funny feeling after visiting them. The team is extremely small, like shockingly small. And the work seemed limited. Cool office though. I hope they found the right people for the job but I think they need to figure out their interview process before hiring more in the future.

Interview
Ummm... very random, made up. Not organized. Just some conversations. No real direction. Boilerplate kind of questions. A joke, quite frankly. But hey, they seem to think it works. Especially the head guy, who is pretty arrogant.

Interview
It would have been really nice to know that the position was 9-5 Monday through Friday plus weekends prior to the process. I was brought in for an interview even though my resume, LinkedIn, etc. all state that I am a student. After making it to the interview, I asked what the time commitment would be. The interviewees said they weren't sure, and that I should ask HR. HR was not in. Despite this, the two interviewing me were the ones I would've been working for, who probably knew the time commitment. All in all, waste of time. This should have been listed as a Freelance position.
