      Senior Consultant Interview

      7 Jun 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Hartford, CT
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at The Hartford (Hartford, CT) in Feb 2016

      Interview

Contacted by HR after a week of posting the resume via email. 2nd week, spoke with HR about the role and my experience and background. Again, I was contacted by HR in 2nd week for interview availability with the Hiring Manager and the team. Met the Hiring Manager and the team in 3rd week of submitting the resume. During the interview, I was told that it would take about a month before a decision is made. In the 5th week, I was contacted by HR for again meeting the Hiring Manager. Met the Hiring Manager and was informed that I made it to the top candidate list and would need to go through a deep technical interview. In the 6th week, met few SME's for technical assessment. Finally, I was contacted by HR towards the beginning of the 8th week and offered the Role. A little lengthy hiring process (in my opinion) but the HR was very responsive and prompt in responding to my emails.

      Question 1

My interview questions were related to my job role. But at no point in time I found the process or the interviewing team to be disrespectful.

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at The Hartford (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2012

      Interview

Received a call from HO HR to complete an online application and a "Profile Assessment." The Assessment was rather straight forward, not as bad as others I have taken. I a few weeks I was contacted again by HR to interview with what would be my manager if hired. I drove 2.5 hours to meet for lunch. We had a nice interview, allowing me to also ask questions. I inquired as to the next step and was told they had other candidates, and it would be 3-4 weeks before I was contacted again. I waited 4 weeks and sent an email to the manager. He called me back and said that his boss in Chicago would like to interview me as the next step. I then received another call from the recruiter, she inquired if I was still interested in the position, since the time since the initial interview was quit long, indicating that the position was placed on "hold." I agreed to meet with the region manager, I drove another 6 hours, paid $80.00 in fuel, $37.00 for parking, and was never offered a drink of water. The interview as "behavior" based, lasted 2.0 Hr. My final question to the manager was "what is the next step in the process?" He indicated the same as the other manager. AsI was leaving the interview, the Region Manager told me " the next step is retirment," which floored me, since I am a seasoned professional. II waited another 4 weeks, sent a note to the original manager, he indicated a decision has not been made, and would not for some time after the holidays. 5 hrs after I received his email, i received a call from the HO HR person, informing me that they selected another individual, with more experience in "sprinkler hydraulics" then I. I was floored, we never discussed this subject matter in depth. After the holidays, I find The Hartford has posted the same position on Linkedin!

      Question 1

I did not find any question difficult to answer, the "Behavior" style of interview forces you to answer questions based on your experiences.
