      Lead Software Engineer Interview

      9 Jan 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Knot

      Interview

After an introductory interview with a recruiter, the technical interview was led by a manager that did not seem very technically inclined. Most of the questions asked seemed like they came from Googling "top 10 React questions". The interviewer said a couple of my answers were incorrect, but the "correct answer" that they gave was just a rewording of my original answer. That indicated to me that the interviewer didn't really understand the questions they were asking, which could say a lot about the developers that are hired here. The interviewer was rather unprofessional as well. The interview was remote, the interviewer was shrouded in darkness on his camera, and he looked and spoke like he had just gotten out of bed. He seemed bored and completely uninterested in conducting the interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Q: Why is React called React? Q: What is the virtual DOM? Q: What is the difference between props & state?
