I’ve worked in multiple fast-paced design studios and agencies with high workloads, tight turnarounds, and complex client expectations but and I’ve never encountered a process so misaligned with basic professional standards.
I was given a full brand identity assignment with a 24-hour deadline, no kickoff, and no clarity. It was presented as a paid part of the hiring process, and I only moved forward after they asked me to continue. I delivered the work on time, as agreed.
Despite this, they stalled, claimed they needed to “review” the work before paying (even though payment was agreed to upfront). It took almost two months and multiple follow-ups to receive what was honestly a very small payment for what they were asking for. I eventually received a response from leadership that was surprisingly unprofessional and juvenile and it was honestly shocking to deal with after simply following up on a past-due invoice.
I would encourage candidates to read reviews carefully and consider if the five star reviews seem like something an actual employee would say.
