After investing over two months interviewing for a senior role, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of care and professionalism throughout the process.
Scheduling Complexity: The constant back-and-forth scheduling, cancellations, and lack of agendas showed little respect for candidates' time.
Lack of Role Customization: The STAR format questions felt copied straight from the internet with no tailoring for a design leadership position. Limited basic followups on answers.
Mismatched Exercises: The whiteboarding under the guide of "We wear many hats" exercise overloaded me with a dense PRD versus an open prompt. No valuable information could be gleaned from that session and the veracity of using a whiteboarding session is dubious at best for a senior role.
Feedback Opacity: The lack of transparency around decision making and refusal to provide feedback after a lengthy process felt dismissive at best, disrespectful at worst.
Context Resistance: Interviewers came across as combative when I sought context for exercises. No design is made in a vacuum, context is key for everything, strong feeling that they were looking for a 'yes' man.
Disorganization: Rescheduling challenges also indicate internal misalignment between teams and lack of cross-functional collaboration.
My initial gut reaction to 'run' was spot on, I wish I'd taken that exit earlier. Avoid this company and save your own sanity.
