Red flags from beginning to end. The recruiter was almost an hour late to my screener call and barely apologized, seemed rushed, distracted, overall unprofessional. Next several interviews were with team members, most were fairly standard, but one of them was the hardest interview I've ever had, very intimidating tone. Ended up getting ghosted even though there were promises of next steps.
If you applied for a job at TikTok US, you need to know these two things:
1. Some of the job applications they post, they are not actually hiring for. I feel like they wasted a lot of my time. I was also told by several interviewers that the company is highly unstable and leadership frequently changes things last minute. (Yes, the actual interviewers were the ones who told this to me. Never asked, they volunteered this information!)
2. I was told TikTok US offices are going back to 4 days a week "some time" in the near future, even though 3 days a week is what they currently advertise. Something to be aware of.
Maybe being ghosted was better than being hired at this place that says it puts "culture first." If interviewers are voluntarily sharing how unstable things are, I think that really speaks for itself.
