I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TikTok (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2020
Interview
I've never seen a more disorganized recruiting team. The hiring manager cancelled morning of, but they still wanted the interview to take place. The people I ended up meeting with weren't even the people it was supposed to be with. They didn't even really have positive things to say about the role, team, or working for a Chinese company. After a hectic scramble to organize the thing, got a canned response from a general email saying it wasn't moving forward.
I applied online. I interviewed at TikTok (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2026
Interview
I had an initial screening, meeting with hiring manager and then had to do a case study presentation in front of panel interviewers follow by a Q&A session where they grilled me with questions

Question 1
What was the biggest challenge you faced at your job in the last year ?
HR screener interview. The interviewer was friendly and posed the standard screening interview questions such as, tell me about yourself, run me through your resume, why TikTok. They also spent a good amount of time describing the scope of the role and structure of the team at a local and regional level. Overall positive experience.
