      Recruiting Coordinator Interview

      29 Nov 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      West Hollywood, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tinder (West Hollywood, CA) in Feb 2016

      Interview

Messaged the Senior Technical Recruiter who posted the role on LinkedIn and set up a phone interview. The Recruiter took the phone interview out in the open office space so I could barely hear her or myself think for that matter. She asked me about my interest in Tinder and my background. She seemed to not be paying close attention as she repeatedly asked me to repeat my answers multiple times and was even chatting with her co-workers in the background. As I began to answer another question, she interrupted and screamed: "Be Specific!". In the end, the Recruiter told me that she didn't know if she wants to move me along to the next interview stage or not. She then told me that it would just be easier if I received another offer to let her know so she can decide between moving me on to in-person interviews or not. Overall, the recruiter was very unprofessional, not friendly, and not personable. Part of working in HR/TA is being the first point of contact and the ultimate cheerleader of a company. All those qualities and more were not demonstrated by the recruiter. A week later, the recruiter followed up with a generic job rejection email stating that they decided to move along with more qualified candidates whose qualifications closely matched the job details. I checked LinkedIn and they decided to hire someone who has less HR/TA experience than I did. I guess that's more qualified for you... Horrible Experience!

Tell me about a time where you made a mistake at work and how did you fix it? Be Specific!

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate that all candidates make an investment of time in getting to know us during the interview process. We're sorry that your experience didn't meet the expectations we set for ourselves and your expectations related to making sure that we take the time to really get to know a candidate and his/her background and potential contributions. We'll be incorporating this feedback into the ongoing training we have for our recruiting team. In the meantime, thank you for your feedback and we wish you the best on your job search!
