      Account Executive Interview

      24 Apr 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Philadelphia, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I interviewed at Toast Inc (Philadelphia, PA)

      Interview

First I do appreciate the fact that they got back to me and gave me a “no” instead of ghosting, but the compliments will end there. The first round with the recruiter was fantastic. She said I sounded like a great fit and was excited to pass me to the next round. Fast forward to that next round and I could tell right away the sales manager had zero interest in talking to me. The most monotone voice, didn’t show interest in my prior experience, asked some questions that i didn’t think were relevant. She definitely was just there to check the box. Not long after I got the rejection email. understand it’s part of the game but i followed all the interview prep provided to me and it seemed like no matter what I wasn’t moving past that second round.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Toast Inc

      Interview

I did an initial phone screen for an AE role. The recruiter showed up a few minutes late but I didn't think much of it. We had a nice conversation and they mentioned they'd like to move me forward. I didn't hear anything for a week or so when they reached out saying they had been swamped and would schedule me shortly. They reached out a 2nd time saying the internal schedule was busy but they'd get something on the calendar soon. Then I received an auto rejection. Not a great experience, it just made the company look extremely unorganized.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Philadelphia, PA) in Apr 2026

      Interview

Firstly I will say I appreciate the fact that they did send a rejection email instead of ghosting, so before I go into the negatives I will mention that the communication was appreciated. The first round interview I thought went really well, the recruiter said I had a ton of relevant experience and I seemed like a great fit, and she’d be excited to pass me on. I was 50/50 on the role because it was door to door traveling to restaurants which seems unproductive in today’s environment, but stuck with it just in case I didn’t get any other offers. Fast forward to that second round interview with my area’s sales manager and I could tell right away she had zero interest in talking to me. Monotone voice, didn’t really care about my prior experience, asked questions that seemed irrelevant, didn’t really answer any questions I had, etc. I knew right when the second the call ended I wouldn’t be moving on, and the rejection email came a week later. I get it’s part of the game but I wish they wouldn’t have wasted my time if they had zero interest in moving me to the next round. It was very clear in the 2nd interview the area sales manager had no interest in me as a candidate. Especially when i followed the interview prep to a tee.
