      Content Marketer Interview

      7 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc in Jan 2019

      Interview

Sadly I had a similar experience to many of the recent reviews here. This process felt very disorganized and disrespectful of candidate's time which was surprising as the company seems to have a great reputation. First phone call with the recruiter went well and she immediately set me up with time to connect with the hiring manager the same week. At the time of the second call I answered my phone to someone completely different than who I was told I would speak to. Not the end of the world, and I was happy to roll with the punches, but I also felt less prepared having little to no background on who this person was beforehand. She seemed distracted and in a rush to get off of the phone with me, asking me to follow up with some writing samples. After sharing my writing samples I was met with 3 full weeks of radio silence. I followed up twice politely asking if the team had time to review/if anything had changed. With no response to these emails, I received a note out of the blue from HR asking me to complete an assessment and that they would like to bring me in for an interview. I was given no timeline on when the assessment was needed or when the in-person interview would be. After asking, I was given 1.5 business days to complete a fairly robust assignment. I submitted and asked twice when they would like my availability for the interview (I was told a coordinator would reach out to schedule and she never did). After another week of radio silence I was told that the team did not want to move forward because they were looking for more from the assessment. Disappointing overall.

Wow, I’m disappointed that this was your experience with our team. This is the exact opposite of what we’re striving for. We truly value the time and energy that candidates put into preparing for interviews. It sounds like there was some internal miscommunication on our end. I want to make this right, so please reach out to me directly on LinkedIn. - Mike Brown, VP Talent
