      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Calabasas, CA)

      Interview

The interview process is extensive. Beyond talking with the recruiter, there were several steps along the way- one of those being a “project” when we would have to find a restaurant owner to sit down and ask several questions about their POS system, without telling the business owner the real purpose of it. They wanted me to “make something up” as to why I was asking certain questions. Once you do that, you’ll need to create a PowerPoint presentation on what you learned. Overall I’m disappointed with this company because a recruiter reached out to me after seeing my resume, went through several interviews, drove over an over away to meet the director, all for them at the end to say I didn’t have enough sales experience. Totally understand not always getting the job, but the fact that they knew of my experience prior to all of my interviews. I’m also a firm believer that if someone has the passion and the drive to succeed and hustle, that can trump sales experience. Overall I did not get an offer, and was really disappointed that I was led on over 4 different interviews all for them to say my experience wasn’t there. I just wish if my experience wasn’t up to par for their requirements, why did they waste my time putting me through a loop? Things happens for a reason so overall it is what it is, just disappointed in the interview process and the manager was super unprofessional and he clearly didn’t believe that tenacity, drive, and passion in the role was enough to overcome not having direct sales experience.

      Question 1

How do you overcome objections? Why do you want to be in sales? Why an outside sales role?

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback, although I'm disappointed to hear that it wasn't a positive experience. We know that our sales interview process can be rigorous. We conduct this process to best prepare candidates for success in the role as the process mimics the day to day. That being said, we are always looking to improve our candidate experience and it's feedback like yours that help us to do that. Thanks again for leaving your review and for taking the time to interview with us. - Taylor Carney, Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at Toast Inc (Los Angeles, CA)

      Interview

Extremely tedious. Made it to the final interview and the person who would have been my boss was extremely robotic and had zero hospitality experience. It was so incredibly off putting and surprising that it completely threw me off my game.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Wanted me to answer how I would approach a business owner, and the correct answer was to follow their script. As someone who approached hospitality owners all day every day, especially in LA, that's about the worst thing you can do.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Saint Petersburg, FL) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Very odd interview process. I applied for the job online and received an automated email from the recruiter to schedule a time for the first interview. The earliest availability was over 3 weeks away, which seemed odd to me. I emailed the recruiter to confirm that it was the earliest availability, and he never responded. Fast forward 3 weeks to the interview... the recruiter was extremely cold and seemed a bit unprepared for our call. At the end of the call, the recruiter said he would follow up with me to let me know if I made it to the next round. I sent a follow up email thanking the recruiter for his time later that afternoon (after 5:00pm) and received an OOO message stating that he would be gone for the next 2 weeks?? Why would they schedule an interview 3 weeks in advance, the day before the recruiter is going on vacation??? I didn't end up getting another interview, but I don't think I had a fair chance based on the scheduling alone. I ended up following up with his manager because I wanted to get some feedback. She was quick to respond and nice, but overall I got a bad taste in my mouth about Toast based on the interview process.
