It appears that living as close as possible to the facility is a major quality they look for when hiring therapists- not licensed experience, work ethic, or overall professionalism matters-but where you live. I was made sure of this during my phone interview with the founder and executive director- although I mentioned I worked in several facilities from distances near and far receiving excellent work merit from my patients and managers- he kept insisting he was worried I lived “so far.” Which by the way is not far- in fact half the distance to my other job locations. He finally stated “ok, well I guess “you’re worth” (his actual words) giving a chance.” After my second interview, I wrote a thank you letter to the director for his time and consideration and stated I was looking forward to his decision. After several unanswered emails regarding the position, I finally decided to call the office (because I had other offers I put on hold and I really wanted to work for this company.) The secretary answered and stated she would see if the DOR was available- after a minute or so she came back to say “he’s busy right now but told me to tell you that the position is filled.” In all my years so far as a licensed therapist, I’ve never felt so disrespected by a rehabilitation company (and the director on the phone was adamant about the importance of “professionalism” in his facility.) I can’t imagine how they treat they’re own if they treat others this way. I would not recommend wasting your time with this place. There are so many other facilities/companies that hold a higher regard for therapists.
