      Data Analytics Engineer Interview

      9 Dec 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TrueCar (Seattle, WA) in Nov 2021

      Interview

This was the weirdest process I have gone through! Round 1- Recruiter call- They were not interested in talking to me about my experiences. They had a set of questions that I was answering for them over a call, and they were furiously typing word by word. Most of it was already in my Resume, or they could have just sent me an email with these questions. The call lasted for less than 12 mins. Round 2- Manager round. This was an interesting turn of events! I did not even expect a response from Truecar after the recruiter call, but I got invited for the manager round after a month. This was a good conversational round about my experience and what the company is doing. Round 3- Technical screen - One of the interviewer was very rude and did not seem interested in talking with me, but more interested in contradicting me. Overall, I expected to not get a call back from them after this round. Round 4- Surprise! I got an email for a panel interview. Things just got weirder in the panel interview. This was a 10 AM to 12.45 PM back to back interviews. Cross functional was 30 mins, technical round 1, was with the rude engineer, who wasn't as rude this time, but he made up a slightly sexist scenario around women liking makeup and men liking electronics. But otherwise, all good. Now, I should mention here that the cross functional interview ran a little long by like 5 mins, so the technical round 1 got extended by 10 mins as per the set agenda. The manager round was very good as I had already spoken with the manager earlier. Now this interview also ran longer, and set back the final technical round by 12-15 mins. The final round was good experience overall, some level of difficulty, and I was working through it, but it was also set up for only 45 mins and the interviewer wanted to understand every step I took. But anyways, since the interview started late, I said that I was ok with spending 10 extra minutes. The interviewer decided to take additional 30 mins on top of my extra 10! Now.... I must admit, since I saw the schedule, I decided to not eat before the interview coz I would be done by 1 anyways! But by the time it was 1.10, my brain decided to shut off and I have almost no memory of what I said or did after 1.10. I think I did Just OK! And I might not get an offer, but just set up 60 min rounds with some buffer between these interviews so that you are not rushing the interviewee or the interviewer!
