I had two interviews. The first was a typical HR screen that I did via phone call. I had a positive experience and then advanced to a technical interview the following week with the head of the department and lead scientist of the group I would be working in. Overall, a positive experience and was even told by the head of the department that it was a very promising interview. I was then told to follow up with HR in a week or so if I had not heard anything back about setting up the next interview. I waited a week as instructed and since I had not heard anything I messaged HR to discuss setting up the next interview since that is what I had been told to do. A week passed and heard nothing. I eventually received an email saying that they had chosen to pursue other candidates. The process overall was very positive but it is frustrating to be told directly that your interview is positive and to set up another interview when perhaps that was never the intention of the hiring manger.
