The applicant has to go to the recruiting office and fill out paperwork and answer question about previous health and criminal background. Testing is conducted via the ASVAB, a physical exam is scheduled, and criminal history checks are conducted. If and when the applicant passes all of the preliminary requirements, they are allowed to select a job that they are qualified for and a date for basic training and job training are scheduled. The applicant attends training on the date specified and begins a career that can be retired from in 20 years.
