      Software Engineer Interview

      9 Apr 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Uberflip (Toronto, ON) in Mar 2022

      Interview

Started with a 15-minute phone screen with HR. Asking about your previous experience, and why you left. Second interview with the Hiring manager for around 30 minutes. They will then send a technical challenge that they have customly created. This is where the very difficult part happens. It's a cool challenge because it simulates a real working environment in the browser. It will load up a VSCode instance, a HTML preview, terminal and docker. The problem is, you are locked on that environment and techstack. You will have to invest more than 8 hours of your time. Would have preferred to solve the challenge by building the JS framework and packages of your choosing and demoing it to them. After that, they will schedule another meeting with 2 of their developer to discuss what you did with the challenge. After discussing the challenge, they will ask the generic developer questions.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - Do you have any difficulty setting up the technical challenge? - How would you use indexes to optimize a SQL Query

      Software Developer Interview

      20 Aug 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Uberflip (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2021

      Interview

I applied for the role online. First interview was with HR (15 to 20 min) Second interview was with hiring manager and another manager (30 min) Third round was technical assessment, a git project was shared and questions were shared via email. I was given enough time to complete the task. Setting up the project using the 'make' file was a bit challenging and time taking. Overall it was a challenging task, but I enjoyed doing it. After completing the task project was shared via git (took few hours to complete the task). Technical interview with 2 people, where I walked them through my implementation and it was continued with some additional technical questions (90 mins) Fourth round was a half an hour interview with VP of Engineering. After going through all these stages, I receive no updates from the company! It would be nice if the company appreciate candidates time. Very disappointed with the recruitment process.
