The interview itself was very straightforward and friendly. One video interview with weeks of waiting afterwards. I was offered the position but ultimately turned it down after seeing how poor the benefits and pay was. They spent a lot of time inflating their benefits when in fact they’re subpar by almost any standard. Boulder is an extremely expensive place to live and their pay scales do not match. They advertise the position with a large salary range, yet refuse to negotiate or match current pay above 10% of the bottom of the range. It was a waste of everyone’s time. After turning down the job, my current supervisor was approached at a professional event about it. I found it incredible unprofessional. It feels as if UNAVCO used to be a great place to work. It seems everyone there has an inflated sense of importance and self. Negotiations were difficult and I found the HR staff to be condescending and rude. I would caution against a company that has no problem showing it’s toxicity.
