      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Uncommon Schools (Boston, MA) in Apr 2018

      Interview

Applied online and received a phone interview the next day. Completed the phone screen, which was with central HR, in about 15 minutes. Got an invite to come to Boston for an in-person interview the next week. Did the in-person interview on Friday, which had two parts: A 1:1 interview with the director of the department and an hour long skills test dealing with Excel and front office management. The Excel skills test required fundamental Excel functions, such as VLOOKUP and COUNT as well as creating tables and filters. Was offered the job the Monday after the weekend. I accepted the job, but later left after being displeased with the organization's culture.

      Question 3

Here is the Excel task: Gathering and organizing information is an essential part of the work as an Office Manager. Below you will find a list of student names and grades that a teacher just submitted to you. Please create a new Excel spreadsheet with this information, making sure that the spreadsheet has the following: Nice presentation: a header, good spacing/margins, borders, etc. Students put in order from highest grades to lowest grades for both math and English Averages for each student and for the class Whenever possible, use the Excel features to help you.
      Answer question

      Question 4

Correspondence task: At the end of each quarter we distribute report cards for each scholar. In order to pick up the report card, parents must attend a mandatory conference with the teachers. The conference schedule is spread over three days so that teachers can meet with the parents of every child in their class. Each individual conference lasts 20 minutes. Draft a note home to parents informing them of the upcoming parent teacher conferences. The letter should briefly describe the details of the conference dates and times and remind parents that attendance is mandatory. The note should also capture information from parents regarding their availability. Since the conference schedule is spread out over three days, the operations team will want to schedule each scholar’s conference at a time when his/her parents are actually available to attend. This note will be sent home to every scholar two weeks prior to conferences so that the operations team has enough time to organize the schedule for each class. This one-page form should capture all necessary information needed for scheduling conferences in a way that is easy for parents to understand, fill out, and return the next day.
