I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at United Ground Express (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2023

      Interview

An easy interview process typically begins with candidates submitting their resume and a brief application form. The initial screening involves a recruiter reviewing applications to shortlist candidates, followed by a quick phone call to confirm basic details. Once candidates are shortlisted, they are contacted to arrange a convenient interview time. The interview itself usually starts with the interviewer explaining the process and the role, followed by basic questions about the candidate’s background and experience. Candidates are also given the opportunity to ask questions about the role and the company. The process concludes with the interviewer outlining the next steps and providing a timeline for feedback.

What did you bring to the table?

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at United Ground Express

      Interview

One of the most unprofessional interviews I’ve ever participated in. I had an interview with a manager who, unfortunately, had difficulty being understood in English. The second person was another supervisor who spent the entire interview making faces—he was twisting his mouth for almost 40 minutes as if chewing gum (?). The manager kept questioning me about the policies in my previous company and, when I responded, he shook his head in disbelief, saying that what I described wasn’t possible. If someone has no idea how other airlines operate, I really don’t understand why they’re asking about it ? Not to mention that both the manager and the supervisor outright denied that Republic Airways or SkyWest operate flights for United Express (seriously?). Putting aside the lack of basic courtesy toward the candidate during the interview, the gentlemen didn’t really seem to know what to ask. I applied for a supervisor position where Excel skills weren’t listed as a requirement, yet the manager kept asking about my experience with Excel. Ironically, he himself clearly had no idea how to use Excel and specific formulas. Major downside for wasting a candidate’s time—if someone’s qualifications don’t match what you’re looking for, don’t waste their time. On the plus side, the recruitment process itself was efficient and the feedback came fairly quickly. The HR lady was professional and kind. In summary – if you’re looking for a professional place to grow in the aviation industry, keep looking. I’m honestly glad I won’t be working in this place.
