      Software Engineer Interview

      16 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Unity (London, England) in Apr 2021

      Interview

      1. Initial zoom call with the recruiter (Andy) was fantastic. I had a great discussion talking about myself, my current work and more about Unity. This part of the interview was overall very pleasant. 2. Second interview was with a manager. We got deep into the detail of projects I've worked on and my current role. Again, it was a very relaxed conversation and helped get me really interested in the role on offer. It was an absolute pleasure to discuss the role and life at Unity. 3. Technical #1 was a systems design interview. It was quite difficult, but the team at Unity made me feel less under pressure. It felt more like an open ended discussion that drilled down in to some details at various stages. I recommend reading up on distributed systems and how you would solve some problems around concurrency and latency, as these were areas that mattered. I'm current between interviews and awaiting feedback, but decided to write this interview now as I'm not entirely sure of how well the technical went. There are apparantely 2 more steps to the process, including a coding test (using Codility or something similar) and a behavioural. I'd expect that the coding test will be fairly straight forward if you've practiced data structures and algorithms. Every step of the interview I was in contact with a fantastic recruiter that kept me in the loop and made sure I was aware of what was to come. It really sounds like an amazing place to work, with a great UK salary and some fantastic benefits. If their current roles are interesting to you, then I definitely recommend applying! Good luck!

Did 2 stages. First and very pleasant with the recruiter, second with the tech manager. They changed the manager from DK to US team in the middle of the process and it was confusing. I had to do round 2 twice
