    Senior Software Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Colorado Springs, CO (US)
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at VIAVI Solutions (Colorado Springs, CO (US)) in November 2019.

    Interview

Phone screening. Tech interview. Management interview.
Tech Team was awesome and asked great questions via Scottish accents. Management team didn't speak English well enough to have a real conversation. I did my best but it was clear they weren't really listening and rather just trying to prod semi-randomly.

    Interview Questions

    • Difference between little endian and big endian. Local network vs host network byte arrangement. Describe your cell phone's boot up process focusing on network activity. What is tcp/ip vs. udp, what is sctp? How would you detect duplicates in an array? How would you go about writing a garbage collector in C++. Code on the whiteboard for this particular state machine. How would you go about solving a sudoku game? How would you go about building a widget? What is the difference between containers and virtual machines? What is the biggest technical challenge you have implemented?

Then a ton of behavioral and management questions that the management team does not really listen to (maybe because they don't understand English very well).   Answer Question

    Technical Support Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Atlanta, GA (US)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at VIAVI Solutions (Atlanta, GA (US)) in August 2019.

    Interview

Horrible experience. The look of " we were really looking for someone different"
They appear to speak minimal English and really had nothing to ask. You might have a chance if you speak Spanish or Portuguese.

    Interview Questions

    • Explained the role and then asked a few questions about my expertise for no more than 5 minutes. Just a waste of time and very disrespectful to say the least.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at VIAVI Solutions (Bothell, WA (US)) in March 2018.

    Interview

I immediately sensed there is some wrong with this company based on the way I was received. I have never seen depressed and rude interviewers like I saw in this company. The company has one product and competing with other companies that have better products. It is a dead end company which explains the attitude of the people who work there. My advice stay away form this company
