Six weeks of interviews. Five interviews with a number of people. Very disorganized. They kept thinking of new people for me to talk to about the job that was largely unstructured and not well-defined. I finally had to push for a date for a decision, when after six weeks of interviews, I was told that a decision would be three weeks in the offing. I suspected this was due, at least in part, to the dire financial situation of the institution. They were genial in person, but I did not meet with any faculty. I found it odd that they were not involved but in keeping with the institution's external reputation for devaluing faculty.
