This was the worst interview experience I have ever had. The initial HireVue interview consisted of a series of pre-recorded questions. You are given time to prepare your responses, along with one practice recording per question.
Six days later, the recruiter emailed me to schedule an interview with a team member. I had the interview a few days ago, and after answering the questions, the manager asked me if I was interested in part time hours or full time. She indicated that either option was available and she told me that full-time employees are eligible for benefits and bonuses. She asked if I could start training on March 7th., which days off I preferred, and whether I had any upcoming vacations. I told her I could start on March 7th and had no upcoming vacations scheduled. I point blank asked if she was offering me the option of a full time position with benefits and she said yes, and I told her that I wanted the full time position. Things ended well, so I thought, and I received an email from the recruiter an hour or so later which stated I'd be hearing from someone shortly regarding next steps.
After two days, I emailed the recruiter to see if there were any updates, as I thought I'd be starting in less than 2 weeks . The next morning I received an automated rejection notification. I completely understand hiring choices, but what I don't understand is why I was given the impression I was hired as a full time permanent employee and would start within less than 10 days. This was very unprofessional and does not sit well with me. Had the offer made at the time of the interview been conditional, the follow up rejection letter would have been understandable. If you receive a verbal offer or indication that you are hired from Varsity Tutors, don't believe this until you have a solid written offer. This all could have been handled so much more tactfully and professionally, but I suspect that people are really nothing more than numbers to them.
