The HR is not equipped to deal with hiring process. Even small decisions take weeks if not months while the candidate waits on.
1. Compensation Alignment
My compensation expectations were communicated clearly at the outset of the process and remained consistent throughout. Given the eventual inability to meet those expectations, earlier transparency regarding the available budget would have been appreciated. Reaching the final stages of a process that extended over several months only to discover that there was a substantial gap in compensation alignment was disappointing and could have been avoided with clearer communication earlier on.
2. Interview Planning and Candidate Experience
The interview process was very poorly coordinated across 4 months. There were multiple instances of delays, including interviews being pushed by several hours, requiring significant adjustments on my part. As candidates are expected to respect interview schedules and commit time accordingly, the same consideration from the organisation is important. The repeated rescheduling and extended delays created the impression that the process lacked adequate planning.
3. Coordination Between Stakeholders
There appeared to be limited alignment between HR, interviewers, and decision-makers throughout the process. Information shared in one conversation often did not seem to carry forward into subsequent discussions, resulting in repeated explanations and a fragmented candidate experience.
4. Role Definition and Scope
The role evolved considerably during the course of discussions. There was no clarity whatsoever from their end in the role. However, despite multiple conversations, a clear and updated role definition was never formally shared. This made it difficult to accurately assess responsibilities, reporting relationships, and expectations before reaching the offer stage.
5. Timelines and Communication
The overall process extended over 4 months, with weeks of no communication and delayed responses. Candidates invest substantial time and effort in preparing for interviews, assignments, discussions, and follow-ups. Greater transparency regarding timelines and decision-making would have made the experience considerably more professional and respectful of that investment.
Unfortunately, the combination of compensation misalignment, process inefficiencies, and lack of clarity made the overall experience far more difficult than it needed to be.
