I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Venmo (Newton, MA) in Aug 2019
Interview
Got a call from a recruiter. He was nice and all. Scheduled an online interview after 2 weeks as the interviewer was busy. The job description said we are not looking for any particular coding language and impostor syndrome etc.
The interview started just like this.
Interviewer: Hi I am XXX, Can you start coding?
Me: OK, will do.
The problem was not difficult. I did not sense any major concerns from the interviewer regarding my approach. Last 10 min for the interview to end,
Interviewer: Do you have any questions about Venmo?
Me : (asked some questions as I had to)
Got a reject the next day without any feedback. I asked them if they can provide me any feedback but no response from any. What I read from the experience, If we want you we will call you, email you twice a day but if we don't want you, we will dump you right away with an automated email showing you our culture.
Thanks, Venmo.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Venmo (New York, NY) in Jul 2020
Interview
I applied to the opening for a senior mobile developer position in NYC.
The first telephonic interview went well and I was asked to provide slots for the second round, a virtual coding round. I was prompt in replying with my availability right away.
There was no follow-up email nothing for a few weeks,
Then almost after a month, a receive an email stating there was a slow down in the hiring process and they are good to proceed again if still interested, I decided to give it another try (big mistake).
I cleared the technical coding round as well and moved on the final panel interview round which had 3 rounds, one paired programming, one app design, and one behavior round.
After the interview, again there was no communication again for a week. after a few follow-up emails, I was told that I cleared the final interview but there was again slowdown in the hiring process and there is no business clearance yet.
I was told the next day that they decided to close the position and not hire at the moment.
It's strange to see them do this after going through the entire interview process.
Based on my interview experience I don't think it's worth applying to Venmo, even if you clear the interview process, chances are you might not get the offer.
