I applied online. I interviewed at Victoria University (Melbourne) in May 2026
Interview
Started with screening call with HR asking simple questions. Then called into a first interview over virtual Teams call with a panel that included 4 people, the hiring manager, recruitment manager, peer in the team and someone who just observed, really for a first interview for a 6 month contract was a little over the top! The first interview involved around 5 behavioral questions. Then progressed to a 2nd interview again Teams call with the Director and his colleague who asked further behavioral questions and keen to see how I would be a cultural fit for the team. Then I heard nothing for 2 weeks, no phone call nothing! I left a voicemail with the Recruitment Manager and followed up with an email but completely ghosted. I then ended up emailing the Director who also ignored my email. Finally I received a generic email "high number of applicants etc" from the University with no feedback as to why I was not successful despite it coming down to myself and another candidate. What a pathetic and disrespectful way to treat a candidate that invested time, effort (and stress) into 3 stages of interviews!

Great interview all around, however the interviewers did seem like they hadn't read my resume at all. But also, that's fine because they were lovely!
